Hypothermia

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 0

An elderly person living alone may become a victim of hypothermia because she has run out of fuel during winter. So it may not be possible to take quick action to heat the room.

  • Call an ambulance, as it is imperative to get her to the hospital quickly.
  • Wrap her in a blanket
  • If she is conscious, give her a hot tea.
  • Do not massage the victim's limbs or suggest that she takes exercise. This will only take blood away from the body's vital organs.
  • If the ambulance is delayed, a companion can lie under the blanket with the victim.
